People in the East of England are more likely to give due to their own personal circumstances (22%), than anywhere else in the UK (average 15%)
Despite the cloud of austerity and perception that Londoners are heads down, career-obsessives, this survey show Londoners are big-hearted with almost two thirds (65%) already giving time, money or energy to charitable causes in the past 6 months which is more than the national average (62%).
Good for causes perhaps not so good for relationships... but people from the South East are just as passionate about good causes as they are about sex (both 18%)
66% from the South West have given money, time or energy to charitable causes in the past 6 months making it the most generous region in England - and above the UK average of 62%.
The West Midlands (alongside the South East) are the most modest regions in the UK with 25% saying they don’t tell people how they give to charity because they don’t want to show off.
People in the East Midlands are more passionate about good causes (23%) than sport (22%).
The Yorkshire and Humber are influenced to give to charity by those around them with their children (35%), their friends (33%) and their mother (24%) being the biggest influencers.
Generosity of spirit is alive in the North West which is a region of givers as 64% of adults have given money, time or energy to charitable causes in the past 6 months. This is higher than the national average of 62%
The 'roll-up sleeves and get on with it' approach is most apparent in the North East with 49% of people believing the bulldog spirit is alive and well and that we still respond to any problems the nation is having - higher than anywhere else in the UK and higher than the national average (43%).
